About project

The software is in the oil and gas industry. It deals with predicting production and revenue from oil wells and management of oil/gas flow in the pipes with large companies. It also includes the automation of the laborious process of filling out the FERC (US Federal Regulatory Agency) required for tracking Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from a production facility. The project will involve creating forms that take user data, combine said data with data from a NoSQL database, and provide reports for the users. 

Your area of responsibility

  • Understanding business logic, and improving the performance of the current analysis pipeline in both speed and accuracy;
  • Improve the scheduling system which arranges the start/end time for good operations including preparation, drill, and completion;
  • Developing machine learning to predict the future production of a well;
  • Developing an algorithm to recognize the pattern in well production history;
  • Deploying and testing features developed. 

Skills and requirements

  • Expertise in Python (5+ years) and common Python modules (i.e. pyodbc, pandas, Plotly, etc.);
  • Strong knowledge of the frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and libraries such as FastAPI, Flask, or Falcon;
  • Solid knowledge of data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence;
  • Strong mathematics background, ability to understand formulas;
  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application;
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git;
  • Ability to conduct an analysis and present results in a clear manner;
  • Experience conducting analysis with large time-series datasets;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work within teams of multiple developers;
  • Intermediate level of English or higher.

Will be a plus

  • Ability to mentor and lead junior data scientists;
  • Familiarity with MongoDB;
  • Experience with DataBricks and SQL Server;
  • Experience with Microservices/Dockers;
  • Knowledge of cloud environments such as Azure, AWS or GCP;
  • Some knowledge of unit testing;
  • Experience with Oil and Gas or Energy Industry;
  • Degree in Data Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or Computer Science.
